DESIGNER Q&A
a conversation with Colleen
IN ONE SENTENCE, WHAT DO YOU DO?

I work personally with each client to make any space feel new again for less!

3 RULES YOU APPLY TO EACH CLIENT...

Deliver a personal, judgement-free and fun experience from start to finish on every project; Seek affordable solutions for tired spaces; Create functional rooms tailored to the taste of every client.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE A DESIGNER AND WHEN DID YOU GET IN TO IT?

After 15 years in the television business, creativity was calling and I started my company in 2003 and never looked back. I LOVE every aspect of my work and I think it shows in the finished product. I've been lucky enough to have clients return to me again and again as the design world evolves.

IF YOU WEREN'T A DESIGNER, YOU'D BE...

My daughter is on the autism spectrum and has other brain health and cardiac problems, so I'd love to be a resource counselor for families with similar needs.

WHAT ARE YOUR GO-TO DESIGN TRICKS?

New throw pillows do wonders for every area in a home and a great way to "change things up!"; Don't neglect your windows...simple panels framing a window add so much to a room and I hang them as high as possible to elevate the space; You don't need to spend a fortune on the finishing touches. Discount stores are ripe with great options; Edit and organize everything.
Less is more!

FINISH THE SENTENCE: EVERY ROOM NEEDS...

To be part of the overall "story" of the house. Each room should read like a chapter and blend with other rooms through a cohesive color scheme and like-minded design decisions.

WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS REDECORATING THEIR HOME?

Start with one to two rooms and go from there. It can get overwhelming if you do it all at once.

FAVORITE COLOR?

I love a neutral color on walls and large pieces of furniture. It opens up the possibilities of accent colors through rugs, artwork and accessories and makes them easy to change without breaking the bank.
